    This thread was opened for working on Action Item. EB2-I community is giving all stupid reasons to divert us from our Action Item. Please stay focused and lets work on Action Items.

    We already sent petition to support those three bills. What else shall we do now. We are running out of time and only few days left before Congress goes on recess (or whatever the term is). WE MUST ACT NOW.

    Folks, I am preparing a draft of the letter to be sent to the media. Any suggestions for points to be included are welcome!

    I plan to include some information about the immigration system, details about the fiasco, how it impacted us, what our flowers are meant for.

    EB3-India with PD 2003 and before - Most will be out by December 2008 -
    Perhaps 10% may still rot in NC further.
    EB3-India with PD JAN 2004 - DEC 2004 - Most will be out by August 2009
    Perhaps 20% may still rot in NC
    further.
    EB3-India with PD JAN 2005 - April 2005 - Most will be out by April 2010
    Perhaps 5% may still rot in NC
    further.
    EB3-India May 2005 Onwards - Can not predict - It is good to look for other
    options and that option certainly MUST not
    be switching to EB2

    Hey mine is EB3 March 2003. I am expecting some good news IN 2009 summer. If I get it before that I think it is a miracle looking at the USCIS activity.

    I consider the 30-40 range 'golden' years . Enough experience to handle various things without much botheration of senility. Depression is not continuous, but comes once in a while. Currently i am optimistic that India EB2 will move forward starting Oct.2008 and my PD of Nov.2002 will become current some time in 2009 and i will be inching to 10 years of SSN eligibility.

    I also have following kind of worries too, which haunt me often.
    Being the 'only son' there is a big emotional pull from the parents to take care of them. But am worried about 'transporting' the American citizen kid back to India ( like them adjusting to the culture there ). Now my batch mates who got GC ( because they came early to USA and got lucky. One India EB2 friend - applied PERM in 2005 & I-485 in 2005 - got his GC in Aug 2007 ! ) , aiming for citizenship , then they want to move to India and plan to bring up kids there. And when they are 'ripe' for higher studies, march back to USA.

    All:

    I received an email on 8-8 saying card production ordered and on 8-9 about the welcome kit.

    My PD is April 2 2004 EB2 (US educated for the idiot who tried to divide us b/w US and non US educated)

    As a token of appreciation - I have contributed $100 to IV just now.Receipt ID: 1467-8132-5592-9911. Request all of those who get GC this month to contribute some $ amount. Although I was not very active in the forums I have contributed at least $400 to this cause and I will do the same in the future. Please do not try to divide b/w EB3 EB2 US educated etc. which I am noticing lately.

    WE REALLY NEED TO HELP OUR EB3 FRIENDS. PLEASE CONTRUBUTE ONCE IN AN YEAR ATLEAST. I HAVE NOTICED THE MOMENT THEY GET GC THEY FORGET THE PAST DIFFICULTIES AND MOVE ON WHICH IS FINE. BUT IF POSSIBLE CONTRIBUTE ONCE IN AN YEAR.

    Both parties ( employee and employers) bend letter and spirit of law. Think fake resumes, references, experiences on employee side. Think no salary on bench, lack minimum professional decorum, professional ethics on employers side. But overall my sympathies are with employee and more so in this case.

    In > 90% of cases I have seen, Desi employers dont operate on good faith. A good example is punitive damages. The employer does h1B, incurs about 5K cost and expects the employee to serve out 12 months. The exit clause is 25K. Its downright silly and precisely what causes employee anxiety. Instead if it is prorated for stay, it would be fair for every one involved.
    Hoarding I-140, labor certificatio etc and giving no visibility is another deal breaker.I just dont get it.

    Some one commented its a small world, apologize if necessary blah blah. If, for a minute the employer in this case thinks in positive way, ( My former employee would be at this place, couuld be in a position where I can sell more, i could get referral for new employees) he wouldnt be doing something like this which downright irresponsible and can cause significant damage to his shareholders. Being a small world goes on both sides.

    For a techie, clilent is king. I would never displease the ultimate beneficiary of my services. Even after my project is over, I keep in touch, do occasional free consulting all in hope of building my network. But for employers like these, who add no value, i have no sympathies.

    As per web page on this link -Do allow all employees (including non-U.S. citizens) to provide any permissible documents to establish their identity or work authorization during the employment verification process.This will exclude applicants on H-1B visa status as they don't have work authorization to work for the new employer.

    However, as I said before, Employer can not discriminate between GC holder, EAD, and OPT holder.

    Well.. may be that's the dose of reality core team needs to give to its members and that may wake up non-contributing, non-helping, and just log in to check status type of members. Just come out and say that we are too small of a group with very limited resources and influence on the capitol hill and we can't get any of our goals including non-controversial ones passed unless we have at least XXX number of members and X dollars in contribution. At least this will set the facts straight and members won't have a false expectation on some of these non-controversial measures.

    Once that is clear, may be folks who are staying back or hesitating in terms of either contributing or supporting IV in membership increase will realize that it's either time to act or preserve the status quo.

    All I am saying is that may be we should make the reality on the ground and rules of engagement clear to all members/non-members so that they can all set only a reasonable amount of expectation from IV under the circumstances unless something drastically changes like the membership or the contribution.

    So far, we have piggy-backed on CIR and SKIL both of which were to a large extent driven by corporate interest. If you take these realities into consideration, provisions like 485 etc are not low hanging fruits any more, because we no longer have a stool to stand on. Given the infamous intertia of the lawmakers, introducing our own independent provisions will take a lot more than a membership base of around 6-7K, a contributing base of around 2k and a free-riding/blissfully ignorant base of 900k+.
    Unless we become a truly representative organisation of prospective EB immigrants, we cannot take on the combined might of the anti-immigrants and the H1 thristy corporates. Not to be negative, just giving an alternate opinion.
